The All Progressives Congress (APC) is scheduled to hear two appeals challenging the legality of the 2024 Local Government (LG) election.
Following Justice Uwani Abba-Aji’s lead of a five-member panel that mandated parties to file and exchange their respective briefs before February 10th, 2025, the court is hearing the case.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been ordered to release the voters’ register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) in order to conduct the LG election, but the Court of Appeal in Abuja has reversed that decision.
Justice Lifu had predicated his decision (in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/987/2024 filed by the APC) on the grounds that conditions precedent for the conduct of such election were not met by RSIEC.
