“Super excited” Sammi Kinghorn has revealed pregnancy means she will not compete at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.

The Paralympic 100m T53 gold medallist will be an ambassador for the event, which is returning to the Scottish city after a 12-year absence.

Kinghorn is a three-time European and world champion in T53 events and competed at the Games in Scotland’s largest city in 2014.

“It’s a really difficult decision,” the 30-year-old told BBC Radio Scotland’s Lunchtime Live. “I don’t think that’s something that’s spoken about often.

“You never know if you’re going to be able to come back so you have to be prepared that this might be it, you might be finishing you’re sporting career.

“I definitely would’ve been there and hopefully fighting for the medals. Watching it, I’ll probably be that little bit sad.
