On Sunday night at the New Orleans Superdome, Lady Gaga gave a moving pre-Super Bowl performance.
The 38-year-old superstar graced the stage in a chic white suit, performing Hold My Hand on the piano. The pre-recorded gig, which took place on Bourbon Street, was a tribute to the victims of the New Year’s Day terror attack that claimed 14 lives.
Fans at home enjoyed the pre-game cameo from Lady Gaga and took to Twitter (X) to congratulate the pop legend, despite Kendrick Lamar being the official halftime act for the 2025 Super Bowl. “I love that Lady Gaga comes around every so often to show us she’s absolutely 1 of 1 vocally”, one penned. “She just absolutely killed that performance”.
Another gushed: “Lady Gaga absolutely slayed it at the Super Bowl! Her piano performance of” Hold My Hand “in New Orleans was a gut – wrenching, soul – stirring ode to the heartbreak of 2025’s tragedies. She captivated the audience’s heartstrings with each note, creating a space for collective reflection in the stadium. It wasn’t just a song, it was a powerful, poignant moment that’ll be etched in Super Bowl history forever”.
“She looks and sounds like a literal angel”, a third declared online as another praised the Oscar winning singer and wrote: “Hold my Hand was so appropriate, she’s such a sweet gal”. One fan was moved to tears, admitting online: “I’m crying that was so beautiful”.
Donald Trump becomes the first sitting president to watch a Super Bowl game as Lady Gaga’s performance coincides with the occasion. Taylor Swift’s fans were upset earlier this week when Travis Kelce, the superstar of the Kansas City Chiefs, expressed his excitement about playing in front of Trump.
Travis welcomed Trump’s announcement that he was present despite Taylor’s public criticism of Trump and her support for Kamala Harris in the previous election. “That’s awesome, it’s a great honour”, the 35 year old said. No matter who the president is, I can tell you that I’m excited because it’s my life’s biggest game. Having the president there, it’s the best country in the world and that’s pretty cool”.
After Taylor endorsed Harris during the presidential election, Trump publicly disputed this statement, which led to Truth on his social media platform. Trump later acknowledged that despite being a liberal and probably unmoving me, he still liked Travis.
Trump also commended Travis ‘ teammate, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who similarly welcomed the news of Trump’s presence in New Orleans. “I didn’t see that clip but obviously it’s cool to hear that he’s seen me play football and respects the game that I play”, Patrick commented. “It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone in the top position in our country”.
