Studio 10’s WILDEST moments exposed – from Natasha Exelby’s lewd puns to Denise Drysdale’s bizarre rant about ‘Arabs’ – and why it’s no surprise they get away with it
You may not know it, but there’s no wilder place on Australian TV than Studio 10.
On Wednesday, ABC’s The Weekly with Charlie Pickering aired a highlight reel of Studio 10’s most eyebrow-raising moments, prompting many viewers to ask how on earth the show has gotten away with it for so long.
The reason, it seems, is that the morning program airs while most people are at work, meaning there simply aren’t enough viewers watching to complain.
The first clip in The Weekly’s compilation showed Studio 10’s Denise Drysdale bizarrely ranting about ‘Arabs’.
‘I tell you, Russia or the other mob that keeps bombing things… who are they?’ Denise told her fellow panellists Sarah Harris and Tristan MacManus.
‘I don’t know!’ Sarah laughed awkwardly.
‘North Korea?’ newsreader Narelda Jacobs suggested.
‘No, no, not Korea… Arabs… the Ubdidubiss,’ Denise replied, presumably trying to pronounce the name of a political group.
Elsewhere, the compilation highlighted newsreader Natasha Exelby’s habit of making sex-related puns.
During one news bulletin, Natasha told her stunned Studio 10 colleagues: ‘Triptych… it’s very close to “ripped d**k”.’
During another segment about food, Natasha said: ‘What I put in and out of my mouth, that’s not something I’m proud of.’
Another particularly racy clip saw Natasha suddenly pulling down her dress and flashing her bra to the camera.
The compilation also featured a clip of entertainment reporter Angela Bishop asking the panel whether it’s possible to have sex in space.
‘There is no sound,’ Narelda replied, prompting Sarah to say: ‘No one can hear you scream!’
Tristan MacManus, who joined the Studio 10 panel late last year, also had his fair share of strange moments.
During one episode, he announced: ‘I like fat girls and I like skinny girls.’
In another clip, Tristan offered his opinion on Prince Phillip’s physical appearance.
‘He’s not beautiful, though,’ the Irish dancer said as a photo of the frail-looking 99-year-old royal appeared on screen.
‘I mean, this annoys me. You know when people go, “Oh, he’s beautiful.” He’s not beautiful.’
Elsewhere Tristan insisted he wasn’t a ‘homosexual for eating a Golden Gaytime’ ice cream, and said people should only ‘rack up’ – or snort cocaine – in their own homes.
