Street Fighter and NCIS star Peter Navy Tuiasosopo dies at 61 as tributes paid to pioneer

Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, a veteran TV and film actor, has died at the age of 61, his son has confirmed.

The actor, who is best known for his roles in movies like Street Fighter and Fast and the Furious, passed away early on Monday morning, his son, who shared the heartbreaking news on social media. Posting on Facebook, Manoah Peter Tuiasosopo wrote: “With a heavy heart, my family and I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. At 3:16 a.m., our father, Peter N. Tuiasosopo, passed away.

“My dad lived a wonderful life, and his impact does not end here. We will continue to live with him in spirit, and as saddened as we are, he is without a doubt in Heaven with his brothers, sisters, parents, daughter, and Jesus, and no longer in pain”.

Manoah also went on to add: “His strength, love, compassion, and kindness will forever be felt”.

It is understood that Peter died in Phoenix, Arizona as a result of heart complications, according to TMZ.

Peter Navy Tuiasosopo began his acting career in 1991, and immediately racked up an impressive roster of credits, with work on the 2021 Magnum PI reboot, as well as roles on Mayans MC, New Girl, Black-ish, Ray Donovan and NCIS.

During his 30-plus year career, Peter appeared in a number of well-known TV shows and films.

He is perhaps best known however, for starring alongside Jean Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, Ming-Na Wen and Raul Julia in the 1994 movie Street Fighter, where he played the character E-Honda, a popular character in the video game series.

In addition to his role in the film, he also went on to star in numerous other Hollywood offerings including Fast and the Furious, Charlie’s Angles, The Scorpion King, BASEketball and Austin Powers: Goldmember.

Peter made a name for himself in the entertainment industry while also being a force for change and establishing himself as one of the most recognizable Polynesian actors in recent years, which helped open the door for others from the island nation.

No information about his funeral has yet been made, but the family is currently organizing a celebration of his life.

“Very sad. Forever remember him in BaseketBall”, wrote one fan on social media, with another adding: “I didn’t even know he was sick”.

Another fan added: “I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending love, thoughts, and prayers to you and your family during this difficult time”.

While a fourth person expressed his condolences to you and your beautiful family, saying “I’m so sorry for your loss.” “Sending lots of love and hugs”

As they grieved the star’s passing, a few more wrote simply, “Rest in peace.”
