A High Court sitting in Ibadan has adjourned the hearing on the bail application for the suspects in the tragic incident that claimed the lives of 35 minors in the Oyo State capital, Ibadan.
Justice Kamorudeen Olawoyin, who made the pronouncement after hearing from the counsels for the three suspects, adjourned the ruling on their bail applications till Tuesday, January 13, 2025.
Naomi Silekunola, Oriyomi Hamzat, and Abdullahi Fasasi, the principal of the school, had filed a bail request for the suspects.
A magistrate court in Iyaganku arraigned the defendants on four counts of conspiracy, death by accretion, careless harm, and lack of adequate security and medical care.

In a hearing that lasted more than five hours, the attorneys separately argued the cases.
The attorneys argued in their respective arguments for the defendants’ freedom, noting that the court had not found enough evidence to justify their confinement in a correctional facility.
However, the Oyo State Government, who had earlier filed a counter application, opposed the bail applications of the suspects.
Abiodun Aikomo, the attorney general and commissioner of justice for the state government, spearheaded the opposition to the bail applications, citing justifications for why the request should not be granted.
The Nigerian Correctional Centre, Agodi, is currently holding the suspects for remandation.
