Mathys Tel, a France Under-21 player, has been loaned out by Tottenham Hotspur from Bayern Munich.
The 19-year-old reportedly turned down Spurs earlier this month, but he will now relocate to north London, where they will have the option to purchase him in the summer for £45 million.
His agent Gadiri Camara posted a photo that appeared to show them both boarding a private jet on Monday.
Since joining Bayern from French side Rennes in 2022, Tel has made 83 appearances for the club, totaling 16 goals and adding seven assists.
For the first league victory in eight Premier League games, Tottenham won 2-0 at Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday.
Ange Postecoglou’s side sit 14th in the table but are in the last 16 of the Europa League and the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
On Monday, Tottenham had a £70 million bid for England centre-back Marc Guehi rejected by Crystal Palace.
Although Tel had been linked with a move to Manchester United, Julien Laurens, a renowned expert on European football, advised the striker to choose Spurs instead.
According to Laurens, “Ange Postecoglou spoke with Mathys Tel for a while and persuaded him to move to Tottenham.”
‘ He’s had English football on tenterhooks ‘ – analysis
Apparently, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy traveled to Munich last week to persuade winger Tel to join his club, but it eventually shut down.
According to these unconfirmed reports, Tel reportedly wanted to join Manchester United or another mighty English soccer club.
Chelsea and Arsenal both reportedly had interest up until the transfer deadline, while Chelsea was earlier considering a swap deal for Christopher Nkunku.
However, no other plan came about, and agent Gadiri Camara and his client Tel were suddenly photographed together on a private jet.
Minutes later, it was revealed that Tel was enlisting in Spurs, which demonstrates Tel’s tenterhooks approach to English football.
