‘Spanx’s new sculpting jeans magiced me a bum I most certainly don’t have’
Let’s talk about jeans. Specifically, let’s talk about Spanx’s new denim range because, honestly, it might just be the most exciting thing to happen to my wardrobe in years. As someone who has spent years testing, trying and occasionally having a little breakdown over jeans that never quite fit right, I feel like I’ve finally found The One. Or, at least, The Two (because the collection comes in both a Flare and a Slim Straight style)
If you’re anything like me, you’ll know the struggle of finding jeans that don’t dig in at the waist, sag at the knees, or require some kind of awkward shuffle dance to get on. Spanx, the brand loved by Claudia Winkleman (she wore the sculpting leggings on repeat for this season of The Traitors), has already revolutionised shapewear and leggings and has now turned its genius to denim. I think we can agree from looking at my before and after, the results are quite something.
This all-new sculpting jeans range features something called Lycra FitSense denim technology, which basically means they’ve got targeted sculpting zones built right into the fabric. Translation? They smooth the tummy, lift the bum and shape the thighs—all without feeling restrictive or uncomfortable.

A closer inspection of SPANXsculpt ReDefine jeans
Now, I’ll admit—I was sceptical at first. I really don’t like wearing jeans – I find them constricting, and I always feel like they cling to me in an unflattering way. When I do wear jeans, I tend to get the wide-leg, or mum-cut ones that skim right over my bum and legs, leaving everything to the imagination.
But slipping into these was a revelation. The sculpting is there, but it’s subtle. No weird panels, no stiff sections—just proper, premium denim that looks and feels incredible. They hold you in where you want to be held, but still move with you.
Another thing I love? Spanx hasn’t skimped on the details. These aren’t jeggings masquerading as jeans—they have a proper zip fly, button closure, and classic five-pocket design. Plus, they come in actual, functional sizes (0-26), so there’s no guesswork involved.
I opted for a size 8 in the Medium Indigo shade and they were a good fit. I do think I could have sized up to a 10 though, but I need to wear them for longer to get used to how form-fitting jeans feel on my body because I’m so used to oversized denim.
The Slim Straight style (which I’m wearing in these photos) is my go-to for daytime chic—it looks just as good with trainers as it does with heels. The Flare cut it also great for pairing with a blazer and some kitten heels for a business casual look. I also tend to prefer a flare because it balances out my top-heavy frame.
At £175 I know they’re pricey, but if you’ve been on a never-ending quest for the perfect jeans, consider this your sign to give the SpanxsculptTM ReDefine denim collection a go. Because honestly? The amount I’m going to wear my pair means the price is more than justified. To put your mind at ease if you want to try a couple of sizes, Spanx is offering free returns on the new denim—so you can find your fit without any worry.
As I said, the quality and cost per wear warrant the higher price point, but if you’re looking for sculpting denim on a budget, I can also vouch for Levi’s 315 Shaping Bootcut Jeans for £80.
