Tony Hadley
Tony Hadley, who left the band in 2017 after years of infighting, will play the lead singer, according to Gary, who last appeared in the band in 2019 (SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images).

That person is “the glue” in the Spandau Ballet. Another fan pleaded, “Go work together again and enjoy music together,” while a fifth fan simply noted, “One down, three to go.”

Gary’s brother Martin Kemp, singer Tony Hadley, and saxophonist Steve Norman made up the original Spandau Ballet lineup along with Gary and John. Unfortunately, the London-based band split up at the start of 1990 as a result of Tony, John, and Steve’s bitter legal battle with the Kemps over songwriting rights.

Before Tony left in 2017, they then underwent a change in 2009. Ross William Wild, one of the bandmates, and him toppled him, but they haven’t spoken since he left in 2019. Gary has stated that he would be willing to overlook the past in order to see the entire lineup reunite, despite the bad blood between Gary and Tony.

He mentioned the possibility of a reunion to Uncut, saying, “I’m not up for it.” It would have to be done with Tony if we wanted to. I’ll be ready for entering the rehearsal room when he wants to do it. 100% . ” Sadly, Gary’s plans may not be realized because Tony previously predicted that he wouldn’t be reunited with the band “in a million years.”

They would like to reconcile, but I wouldn’t. I have wonderful family and friends, and I’m very fortunate to have both. I love what I do and am enjoying my band, which I have. Tony said, “I don’t have any pressures as such.”

Gary acknowledged that despite his hopes, he couldn’t always see a bright future for Spandau Ballet in 2020. Outside of Spandau Ballet, I have a lot going on. Over the past few years, we have experienced a lot of disruption. And, to be honest, he told Parklife DC, “I don’t know really where that’s left us.”
