Siblings Burnt To Death In Ondo State

Two young siblings, Jelad Oluwaranakinse, aged five, and his brother, Jenson, aged three, were burnt to death in a fire that engulfed their apartment in the Oluwatuyi area of Akure, Ondo State capital.

According to eyewitnesses, the children were locked inside their house by their mother, Mrs Deborah Oluwaranakinse, who had stepped out to buy food.

Unfortunately, while the mother was away, a fire broke out in the apartment, burning down the whole apartment, with the two boys indoors.

The neighbors around the fire tried to put it out and save the children, but their efforts were unsuccessful, according to a source who was able to confirm this.

He claimed that things had already gotten out of hand by the time the state fire service arrived.

According to reports, neighbors’ attempts to extinguish the flames and save the children failed despite the fact that the fire’s source is unknown.

The University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital in Akure later evicted the children’s remains and deposited them in its morgue.

Confirming the tragic incident, Ondo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, said investigations were underway to determine the cause of the fire.

The two male children who were left in the room were suffocated and burned. One is Jelad Oluwaranakinse, aged five, and the second is Jenson Oluwaranakinse, aged three”, the spokesperson added.
