Sex Education’s Alexander Westwood jailed for 15 years after being found guilty of 26 sex offences

Alexander Westwood, the star of sex education, was found guilty of 26 sex offenses, including those involving children, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The actor, 24, was charged with 77 serious sexual assaults, but this number was cut to 26 for the sake of sentencing, according to prosecutor Andrew Wallace KC. The court heard how he was a “supreme manipulator” whose sexual offences was a “lifestyle”. Wallace said: “As fame beckons, he met two impressionable 16-year-olds and used his revered position to abuse them”.

He continued, “Sixty of charges would be made if we were to list every instance.” Sentencing, Judge Neil Chawla said: “You used your minor celebrity status as an actor to prey on impressionable, innocent and na ve young girls”Throughout your trial your nonchalant attitude bordered on arrogance.

The jury instead found that you are a serial predator and that sexual offending became a part of your way of life, rejecting your denials and your account of blaming the victims. You were expected to stay at your home address as an act of mercy for your parents, but I gave it some thought. You were discovered last week in a hotel, far exceeding the terms of your bail, which this court graciously provided.

” One of your victims said she felt dehumanised. Another person described how she felt impoverished simply by doing the simplest things. This is the horrifying, lasting effect on the victims of what you did – your sordid sexual criminality. The lead offence is rape, you were supposed to be teaching her, you were paid. This is an abuse of trust.

“Over the course of your life, you have committed numerous sexual offender. You have no regrets and continue to pose a threat to the general public. The jury have exposed you as both a predator and a manipulator”.

According to Mr. Wallace, the defendant was found guilty of a large number of crimes and is therefore not eligible for credit. In fact he called his victims liars in a pre-sentence report, which is regrettable. He is the product of poor parenting and pornography. Before he was ten, he watched porn on his father’s laptop.

The defendant frequently displayed completely inappropriate sexualized behavior at a young age, according to the pre-sentence report. He is a serial sexual predator, particularly targeting children. At the time, four of his victims were minors. This is widespread abuse. He could have been sentenced to 77 serious sexual assaults, but that would have been unwieldy to sentence.

“It is worrying how much planning went into this offending, none of which have become remorse. He put in a lot of effort, which is very worrying. Without setting himself up as a teacher, which is a breach of trust, he would not have been able to commit some of these crimes. He poses a significant threat to the public. He disregards his victims in a blatant manner.

Alexander, from Albrighton in Shropshire, was found guilty of 26 sex offences in December, including some against children and pupils in his acting class. After a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court, the actor claimed that his alleged victims had various reasons to falsely accuse him and that they had all denied all charges.

Sexually assaulting a child over the course of eight years and raping a schoolgirl who came to him for acting lessons are some of his convicted crimes. Westwood was dubbed “manipulative and predatory” and had a fascination with porn from an early age, a court heard in December.

One of two teenage girls was “forced to act out the most inappropriate scene while the second was systematically abused by him,” according to Westwood, referring to two teenage girls who had come to Westwood for acting support. He sexually assaulted and raped a student who attended drama school between November 2020 and September 2021, as well as compelled her to have sex.

Between May and August of this year, Westwood assaulted the second teenager at the same time as the first. Additionally, Westwood was found guilty of having sex with a boy between the ages of nine and ten.

He was released on bail and given the opportunity to spend the holidays at home following his four-week trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
