Senate To Probe Economic Sabotage In Petroleum Industry

The Senate’s ad-hoc committee was reconstituted to investigate the alleged economic sabotage in the nation’s petroleum sector.

The&nbsp, Senate, presided over by the Deputy President, Senator Barau Jibrin, announced these decisions during plenary after the Leader of the Senate/Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, sponsored a motion on the need for the two chambers to jointly conduct the oil probe.

The House of Representatives had debated the same subject before, and the senate leader made its ad-hoc committee to look into it in his motion.

He argued that “the two chambers’ a&nbsp, need for the ad-hoc committees to work together to prevent duplication in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.”

The committee’s name, “National Assembly Joint Ad-hoc Committee to Investigate Alleged Economic Sabotage in the Nigerian Petroleum Industry,” was approved by the upper chamber, and he further demanded that it be reconstituted.
