Selena Gomez speechless over bizarre engagement gift from Jimmy Kimmel

After receiving a bizarre engagement present this week from Jimmy Kimmel, Selena Gomez was left speechless.

Selena, 32, announced that she had got engaged to record producer Benny Blanco, 36, last month. She then further emphasized the importance of the diamond ring while attending her husband’s wedding in the US on Sunday night. Following her latest film, Emilia Pérez (2024), picking up four awards at this year’s ceremony, Selena appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday. During the interview, host Jimmy, 57, presented his guest with a belated engagement present.

Jimmy said: “I won’t ask you when you’re getting married. Maybe you don’t even know when you’re getting married, but I do have an engagement gift for you and Benny”. Selena expressed surprise over the present, responding: “What”? The host then said ahead of revealing it: “This is something that… it’s not a traditional]gift] and it’s not necessarily a practical gift, but I think you and Benny are really gonna enjoy it”. Selena said to the presenter: “Okay… thank you”!

Jimmy then produced a box filled with the era’s favorite toy, Daddy Saddle, which was a saddle that kids could put on their father’s back to simulate riding a horse. The Daddy Saddle is a rideable Benny in a very wholesome way, the talk show host told Selena as his guest.

Selena initially laughed when Jimmy’s desk in the studio was placed next to the box, but she later realized she was speechless because of the apparent confusion surrounding the present. And she covered her mouth with one of her hands as Jimmy continued: “I don’t want you to think that anything is being suggested here that isn’t but… just imagine yourself]on Benny’s back]”.

As Jimmy encouraged her to “imagine” the couple using the product, Selena, who appeared embarrassed, told him: “Okay, yeah”. Then Jimmy made fun of Benny’s “a lot more curly” hair than the box’s parent model, saying, “Just try to imagine this hair being a lot more curly and then you on top of him.” Selena laughed before he added: “Anyway, that’s for you”. The singer replied: “Well, thank you”.

After handing over the box, Jimmy pulled some wrapping paper from it, saying: “I gotta pull some of the Christmas wrapping paper off of that… yeah, that may have been a regift”. At one point after taking the gift, Selena looked towards the studio audience as she mouthed: “What”?
