Seinfeld and Family Guy star breaks fundraising records with star-studded cancer event

In aid of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Seinfeld and Family Guy star Patrick Warburton has broken his own fundraising records.
Seinfeld star Patrick Warburton has revealed he has smashed his latest fundraising efforts, raising millions for a charity close to his heart. The 60-year-old actor, who is best known for his hilarious role as David Puddy on the huge nineties sitcom, revealed his latest fundraiser was his biggest yet, dwarfing the initial $5million (£3.9million) target set.
It marked the 15th year Patrick – who is also the voice of Joe in Family Guy – has held the golf event to raise vital funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The four-day event, held in the Coachella Valley desert, raised almost $6.5million (£5million) in vital funds at the event earlier this month for the organisation. It was supported by an influx of famous faces, including Alice Cooper and Nashville star Charles Esten.
Making his event the biggest charity golf tournament in the country, St. Jude families now have no to pay for treatment, travel, housing, or food while their children receive life-saving care.
Speaking of why he first got involved with the organisation, Patrick exclusively told The Mirror: “I was inspired about 15 years ago to start an event for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“My wife and I couldn’t think of a better cause than children with cancer and the best, most special hospital in the world, for so many different reasons, and so we had a very humble beginning start to our event.”
The charity hosted a songwriters night and rheneyapalooza jam this year, which featured acts from Alice Cooper and Jeff Baxter. Additionally, there were auctions and celebrity golf competitions.
Over the past 15 years, we’ve raised $39 million, according to Patrick, who also stated how much money has been raised. However, the fact that we actually defeated Memphis St Jude was kind of stand out about this year. We actually defeated them in the nationally televised event that St Jude’s own has hosted in Memphis.
The father-of-four acknowledged that while not having dealt with the disease with his children, he still believes that the team’s outstanding work is appreciated. He said, “I don’t think you have to have dealt with it or have had sick kids to understand what St. Jude does.”
“And we merely wanted to contribute to this world by attempting to raise as many children as possible.” We both agreed that I wanted to do something similar and that we had the opportunity to do it.
Close friends in the industry, including Mike Mills from REM, Kevin Cronin, The Jam, Huey Lewis, and Toby Keith to name a few, supported Patrick’s charity event, he continued.
Regarding the future plans, Patrick said: “It’s tough because, you know, we’ve typically broken records.” We only went virtual because of the pandemic, in my opinion, in the year we dropped.
The stakes are raised year after year, and this will be a very difficult year, but as long as we are a huge success, that is what matters most. However, we always look forward to exceeding our own number, so we’ll probably be able to do that once more next year.
Patrick is busy in both his professional and personal life as a result of the event. He will be starring in a new television series called Duster, and he’s also going on a stand-up comedy tour.
