Security Operatives Rescue Kidnap Victims In Sokoto

A kidnapping attempt by gunmen suspected of being armed bandits was foiled by a joint security patrol team that included members of the Nigeria Police and Sokoto State Community Guard.

In the troubled eastern senatorial district of Sokoto State, an incident occurred at Kwanar Mahalba along the Goronyo-Sabon highway.

The security operatives saved seven passengers, including children, as other passengers flung into the bush before the security operatives arrived. One of the passengers was fatally shot by the bandits.

The state deputy governor, Muhammad Idris Gobir, who praised the work of security operatives, said the joint patrol team had saved 63 victims from bandits in total over the past four days, was presented with the rescued victims.

According to the deputy governor, the figure breakdown shows that 39 victims were rescued on Monday, 7 on Wednesday, and 24 on Sunday.

He claimed that the state government was working with the federal government to combat Lakurawa terrorists’ activities.
