Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs set for trial over sex trafficking, ‘prostitution and attempted kidnapping’ claims
P Diddy will stand trial next May, it has been revealed.
The rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs, was arrested last month on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Judge Subramanian scheduled the trial for May 5 as the trial’s date. However, according to TMZ, federal prosecutors revealed their investigation is ongoing and may lead to additional charges against Diddy after the judge informed Diddy’s attorneys that the trial would start in May.
Diddy is still denying any allegations made against him, and he had requested bail three more times since his arrest. Diddy is currently imprisoned in Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York. He is currently facing a total of 100 sexual abuse-related charges (across both criminal and civil).
As he appeared in court on Thursday, members of his family arrived, including his mum, Janice Combs, and his twin daughters. Previous to that, Janice had previously reassured her son that he was not a monster by expressing her support for him.
Following rumors that they had visited the rapper while he was incarcerated, according to TMZ, the pair made the appearance. In support of their father, Justin and King Combs, both of whom were present at Diddy’s house, also showed up at the New York court.
Since the Bad Boy Record founder’s initial arrest, it’s said upwards of 120 victims have come forward, but Diddy maintains his innocence. His legal team claimed in a statement that he cannot address every meritless allegation in the rip-roaring media circus.
Mr. Combs categorically and categorically denies any allegations that he sexually abused anyone, including minors, as false and defamatory. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation. “
As early as the spring, Diddy was requesting a trial. In a letter to the US Department of Justice, Diddy’s legal team requested that the prosecution’s investigators provide the evidence they needed to “review the evidence in advance of a spring trial date.” Diddy continued to “proclaim his right to a speedy trial,” according to the document, which was seen by The Mirror, and stated that he had requested an April or May 2025 trial date.
Following the raids on Diddy’s homes in Miami and Los Angeles in March, the filing requested access to the documents. The government stated in the document that they have several terabytes of electronic material, including phones, laptops, tablets, hard drives, and cloud accounts from Diddy and third parties. They’re also looking at ‘ physical evidence seized in searches of the defendant’s residence’.
