Shedeur Sanders was not chosen in either the second or third round of the NFL Draft, which allowed him to continue his downward trend.

The biggest surprise of day one of the draft was Sanders’ projected top-five pick, which meant he was drafted without getting selected in the first round.

The 23-year-old was scheduled to arrive in Green Bay, Wisconsin, early on day two of the three-day event.

Sanders was previously expected to pick the first pick for the 2018 draft, but he’s still available with 102 overall picks.

With all 32 of the NFL’s teams having already given up on Sanders multiple times, this is arguably the most dramatic draft slide in NFL history.

US President Donald Trump questioned the absurdity of NFL owners in a social media post following the first round.

Prior to Sanders, five quarterbacks have been chosen, with Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe, and Dillon Gabriel all slated for Friday selections.

What transpired on the draft’s second day?

The Titans and Giants, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and Cleveland Browns, were two of the five teams in need of quarterbacks at the time of the draft.

Before New Orleans selected former Louisville quarterback Shough with the 40th pick, Cleveland picked two picks early in the second round, but Sanders was once more overlooked.

Then, when Pittsburgh selected running back Kaleb Johnson with the second overall pick, Pittsburgh chose the 83-pounder.

The 92nd pick was traded by the Seattle Seahawks to take a punt on Milroe (Alabama) as a development project, giving the team a surprise.

The Browns then added another surprise by selecting Gabriel (Oregon), leaving the Steelers as the only team in need of a quarterback who hasn’t been chosen yet.

Aaron Rodgers’ slide in the 2005 draft, when the future four-time MVP had to wait patiently for a pick before being chosen with the 24th pick, was similar to Sanders’ snub on Thursday.

In the final few days of the draft, Sanders’ stock had fallen significantly, with some analysts anticipating that he might not only fall out of the top five picks but also into the second round.

What does Sanders want to do next?

Pittsburgh did interact with Sanders during the pre-draft process, where Cam Ward was the only player to complete more touchdown passes than Cam Ward, who last season had the best pass completion rate in college football (74%).

Rodgers, a veteran who was released by the New York Jets, has also met with the Steelers, and he has not yet made an announcement about his future.

Owner of the Steelers’ team, Art Rooney II, said on Friday, “I do believe we may get word soon. He does want to come here.

He continued, “Properly not a quarterback who will start for us this year, even if we draft one,” adding, “We still might.”

At this stage of the draft, the same applies to every other team.

There are plenty of chances for other teams to pick Sanders if Pittsburgh’s next pick is the 123rd overall.

However, they are likely to view him as a backup or a development project in his first season if they finally give him a call.
