Sam Thompson bragged about 2025 being the “best year ever” in the wake of his split from Zara McDermott.
Since 2019, the couple has a stunning home in London where they live with their adored cats. The paid have, however, ended their romance after a number of issues that appeared to have been raised by fans. Sam and Zara had separated for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Sam shared a cheery video with his followers on Instagram as soon as they learned their breakup. In the animated clip, Sam walked along a street as he said: “New year! 2025 baby come on let’s have it! I can’t wait. You’re going to have the best year ever, and the new year is going to be amazing. And you know I’m always right”. He kissed his camera to end the video.
Sam, the I’m A Celebrity winner, and Josh Patterson, both former Made in Chelsea co-stars, Reza Amiri-Garroussi and Reza Amiri-Garroussi, celebrated the new year by partying at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens. Zara and their cat were both staying at home. A week earlier, Sam had been handing out presents and volunteering for a charity on Christmas Day, while Zara spent the time in Upminster, Essex, with her family.
While Sam was working on the spin-off series Unpacked in Australia, the couple had also taken some time off from one another. While filming a BBC documentary, Zaragoza was unable to travel over due to work commitments. Fans expressed concern about why they weren’t performing for the entire month-long show, but Zara explained that it was due to work commitments.
When Sam shared a post calling Zara his “soulmate” and “best friend,” the couple was last seen together in December to celebrate Zara’s birthday. However, he was spotted a week later boozing in the late evening with Pete Wicks while standing outside the strip club Stringfellows.
The pair reportedly had “crisis conversations” over the summer after Zara allegedly moved from their London home to stay with her family. After Sam represented England on the pitch for Soccer Aid 2024, Zara made an appearance in public to shout at him. Zara could be seen smiling as she waved her finger at her beau following the star-studded afterparty in the photos of the seemingly tense pair.
As they chatted while their taxi was about to arrive, the two appeared to be in a conversation. In response to rumors of a conflict in their relationship, Zara set the record straight about the “argument.” She captioned the photo, “Why did this make me laugh so much, btw?” Stop saying you should have scored!!!! You did your best and that’s all that matters!!!! You need to stop doubting yourself!!! I’m actually telling him positive affirmations in a very passionate manner despite the appearance of a fight between us! ]laughing-face emojis]”.
