Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott’s recent separation has led to a “weird” dynamic with TOWIE star Pete Wicks, a source has claimed.
According to reports, Zara and Sam split up after five years in December, with Zara allegedly leaving the Made in Chelsea star’s London home.
Meanwhile, Sam’s best friend, Pete Wicks, is thought to be dating Irish model and former Love Island star Maura Higgins, having also been linked to his Strictly Come Dancing partner Jowita Przystał.
Yet it would appear that the recent revelation has led to a rather “weird” dynamic, something a source described as a “total switch-up” and a “complete role reversal”.
The source told Closer magazine that Pete could tell Sam and Zara had a long relationship, and Sam had spoken to him frequently. He is his closest companion, and he genuinely values his opinions.
” Things are now a bit weird because, for a long time, Pete was the single one, so it’s a total switch-up. Sam really likes Maura, though, and sees that she makes Pete happy. It’s a complete role reversal. “
Sam and Zara, who were in a relationship between 2019 and 2024, first struck up a romance after Sam slid into Zara’s DMs and started a conversation. Last year, however, fans voiced their concerns when the former couple didn’t spend Christmas together.
In regards to the split, a source previously told the MailOnline:” Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. They still care about one another and have a lot of love for one another despite making an extremely difficult decision to part ways. However, they split and will be focusing on their individual careers going forward into 2025 after a difficult year of working hard on their romance.
Sam made the revelations earlier this month that he had attempted to call Pete 15 times during the breakup. The former Strictly star admitted to going “off radar for a couple of weeks” while speaking on the pair’s Staying Relevant podcast.
Sam admitted that it had been a” real tough month “and that he’d been” going through some stuff”. After apologising for not being there, Pete replied:” I did feel bad, I went off radar and I didn’t realise you were effectively on the edge over Christmas. “
Meanwhile, Zara seemingly appeared to confirm that she’d moved out of their home, taking to TikTok to post a ‘ Day In The Life ‘ vlog for her many thousands of followers.
According to the video, she reportedly awoke in a different house than Louise Thompson’s, the star of Made in Chelsea, which she previously shared with Sam.
