Andrew Scott, a BAFTA-winning actor, and Sam Fender have a new project under their belt.
Fender, a BRIT Award winner, has now revealed the title track’s music video. His third studio album, People Watching, is scheduled to be released next month. But the 30-year-old rocker isn’t actually seen in the video, instead, All of Us Strangers star Andrew Scott is taking the lead.
Fender’s upcoming album, which he has secured both as one of the biggest names in music and as an outstanding songwriter, will explore the vibrant stories of a variety of people who live extraordinary lives. In his video, unveiled tonight, Andrew pulls out all the stops with a gut-churning depiction of both love and loss for Sam’s latest anthem.
Fans will see Andrew’s character riding the euphoric waves of love in a stunning mini-movie filmed in Long Beach, California, as well as the feeling of loneliness, as echoed in the poignant lyrics penned by Fender. Andrew’s character records the intense high of being surrounded by others before finding himself once more alone during the track’s bridge.
However, in accordance with the lyrics, the character later experiences devastating loss after sharing heartfelt moments with his on-screen mother. “I’ll hold you in my heart, ‘ till the day I die”, is roared by the North Shields-born musician as Andrew sits at the bedside of his ailing mother.
Sam told the Mirror and other media outlets that he was “absolutely excited” that the People Watching video would be released this week. I was so excited when I learned that Andrew wanted to be a part of the show because he was so perfect for the part.
However, the actor taking on the role is appreciated more than just Fender. Andrew commented: “Sam’s masterpiece of a song has become a true friend to me. Working on it was truly energizing, and I’ll always be grateful to Sam for his extraordinary talent, to the other filmmakers who made it, and of course to my mother, who I’ll hold in my heart until the day I pass away.

Just last week, Sam shared his latest track, Arm’s Length, which has gone on to receive huge praise thanks to it’s Fleetwood Mac inspired riff and cinematic atmosphere. He later remarked, “Arm’s Length originally resulted from one of those magical moments where a song literally falls out of the sky while you’re just messing around.” It’s about being avoidant and flighty. But also, just a simple pop song, which I love”.
Reflecting on the track on Instagram, he told fans: “For a while, it wasn’t even going to be on the album… but thankfully @brookebentham joined and was like, are you mad?? We recorded a lot of material during that time, and the band and I have been picking up these songs for a while. We have deliberated on what will happen next.

For our next appearance, we made a decision to use this collection. Dean and Joe, who have worked with me every step of the way, are outstanding independent producers, and I’m forever grateful and proud of them both. I’m a lucky f***er to be surrounded by such talented people in this time because the band really has evolved.
Fender has been announced as the headline act for Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Liverpool’s Sefton Park for May, and it’s going to be a huge year. Elsewhere, he’s preparing for a completely sold-out tour across Europe in March, with a handful of shows in America. But that’s not all – he’s also set to play three nights at Newcastle’s St James ‘ Park stadium which sold out instantly, before his biggest show to date at London Stadium.
To support the arts in the North East, £1 from every ticket sold at the stadium shows will be donated to a few cultural organizations, including Youth Music and Sunday For Sammy.
