Sam Fender left his ITV Vera co-star requiring an urgent trip back to the make-up department.

The musician, who won two BRIT Awards, first began acting as an actor before finding success with Vera and Wolfblood, a CBBC drama. However, he made a huge mistake during the very first Vera episode in 2011, which put a co-star in a very awkward position.

Sam, 30, appeared in the episode Hidden Depths as teenager Luke Armstrong, alongside the likes of Brenda Blethyn and David Leon. Vera (Blethyn) responded to a call during the episode’s opening scene and immediately searched for Luke’s body in a residential street. He was shirtless, submerged in the bath and surrounded by wildflowers.

Reflecting on the scene, in a now resurfaced RadioX interview which has gone viral on TikTok, Fender said: “I got killed in the first ever episode of that ITV detective programme, called Vera, set in the North East. I lasted ten seconds, I think. It stars, my mam was Gina McKee, I was 15, Gina McKee, I wake up in the middle of the night.

Sam made his first appearance on Vera (ITV)‘s first ever episode.

The guy stabs us to death, infuses us in the bath, and then sprinkles wild flowers over us, psycho, after I have one line and go “Mam.” Gina McKee enters the bathroom and begins screaming and freaking out. The first time we did it, I went underwater, I was supposed to have my eyes underwater and hold my breath, pretend to be dead, obviously. “

Before apologizing that Gina and their co-stars were brilliant to work with, Sam, who is renowned for hits like Dead Boys and Seventeen Going Under, continued, “The water rushed up my nose and I was choking, I was like, I can’t hold this,” she said.

The musician won both the Artist of the Year and Best Alternative or Rock Act at the upcoming BRIT Awards, but the clip has since resurfaced. He later revealed on X, a former Twitter account, that he was “super surprised” by the nominations and that he encouraged his fans to vote for him.

But ahead of the awards in March, Sam recently revealed to fans that his latest single, Arm’s Length, almost never made it to his upcoming third album, People Watching, which is scheduled to be released on February 21. Taking to Instagram, he said:” For a while, it wasn’t even going to be on the album… but thankfully @brookebentham joined and was like, are you mad?? A song literally literally falls out of the sky during one of those magical moments where you’re just messing around. It’s about being avoidant and flighty. But also just a simple pop song, which I love. “

Sam said in a statement about his upcoming album: “Me and the band have been picking away at these songs for a long time. We recorded a lot of material during that time and thought long and hard about what would follow.” For our upcoming appearance, we made a decision to use this collection. Dean and Joe, who have worked with me every step of the way, are outstanding independent producers, and I’m forever grateful and proud of them both. I’m a lucky f***er to be surrounded by such talented people in this time because the band really has evolved.
