Justin Baldoni’s legal team are reportedly ready to cite Ryan Reynolds ‘ recent joke on SNL50 in their defence against Blake Lively’s “harassment” lawsuit.

The It Ends With Us director, 40, is facing allegations of sexual harassment, extortion and defamation, brought against him by his co-star on the movie, Blake Lively, 37.

She filed the lawsuit in December of last year, but Lively, Reynolds, and their PR team responded with a counterclaim last month, going further with a $ 400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit.

On the anniversary of the conflict, Lively and her husband Reynolds, 48, appeared to criticize the situation on the Saturday Night Live anniversary show.

When Reynolds raised a question in the audience that was awe-struck, Reynolds was there. He said to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler: “I have a question”, to which they responded: “Oh Ryan Reynolds, how’s it going”?

Seemingly taking aim at the on-going legal battle he and his wife are facing, Reynolds replied with a straight face: “Great – why, what have you heard”?

That response is now reportedly being lined up as a way to bolster Baldoni’s legal case, according to sources. According to a source, Justice is taking this lawsuit seriously and doesn’t make a mockery of it in front of the public. Justin’s legal team’s use of this public appearance to defend him is very likely.

The lawsuit stems from Blake’s allegations Justin sexually harassed her on the set of ‘ It Ends With Us’, a 2024 adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel. The Hollywood actress accused him of attempting to “destroy” her reputation through a smear campaign, which was detailed in a New York Times article titled, ‘ We Can Bury Anyone: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine’.

Weeks later, Lively filed a formal lawsuit against her co-star in which she alleged sexual harassment, breach of contract, invasion of privacy and infliction of emotional distress. Justin continues to deny all accusations. He has since filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against the New York Times, alleging that it was “cherry-picking and altering communications that were purposefully spliced to mislead.”

A second source told the publication that Lively and Reynolds have “no regrets” about their SNL50 appearance, saying: “They’re glad they showed up because they have nothing to hide and no reason not to”.

In March 2026, Lively and Baldoni’s legal case is expected to go to trial.
