Ruth Langsford, a television personality, has credited her “feminine friendships” with assisting her in getting through the darkest months of her divorce from Eamonn Holmes.
The Loose Women panelist, 65, and GB News presenter, also 65, sent shockwaves through the showbiz world last May when they announced they were going their separate ways after 14 years of marriage and 27 years together. Eight months after their split, Ruth has revealed how heartache she endured, revealing that her female friends were there to support her when she needed them most.
Ruth has watched Eamon move on with Katie Alexander, a 42-year-old relationship counselor, while she has remained single since the split. The Loose Women actress said she could always rely on her friends to support her even in the worst of her heartache, even in the very early hours of the morning. Speaking to Woman and Home Magazine, Ruth shared: “My female friendships are very important and, by God, have they stepped up.

” They did before, when my sister died, particularly. I’ve always known they’re there, but when the chips are down, they’re really there. You are lifted from the ground by them. I would do the same for them and they dry your tears, bring food with them, and call you frequently to check your health. On one hand, I’d probably count those friends, including the 2am friend.
Ruth is now making vacation plans for herself and is considering visiting Thailand to see her best friend leave for school. As Ruth’s goal for the year ahead is to put herself first and travel more, taking a girls’ trip abroad to celebrate turning 65 might be an option. The Loose Women star told the publication, “I’m definitely not planning my next ten years in finite detail, but there is a certain feeling of liberation.”

Ruth acknowledged that her divorce from Eamonn had been difficult, especially given that it took place before the entire country’s attention. She revealed:” A break-up of a relationship is hard enough for anybody to deal with. Most people don’t have to go through a divorce in the public eye, where everyone writes about you and writes about you in comments. It’s very difficult and painful, but most people don’t.
“But that’s the nature of my job. I’ve always had that and if you can’t cope with that, you shouldn’t be doing this job. I’m quite fine being on my own, but not forever. When you’re in a relationship, it’s easy to say, ‘ Great, I’ve got a weekend to myself, ‘ but when you think that might be every weekend, it’s a different story”.
