Kevin Nancekivell, the interim manager of Plymouth Argyle, believes that their players’ shock 1-0 victory at Brentford in the FA Cup third round contributed to their players’ feeling some “guilt.”

At the end of December, Rooney’s successor, Nancekivell, took over as head coach as they knocked their Premier League rivals out of the FA Cup with Morgan Whittaker’s goal.

The players are likely feeling remorse and want to make up for the errors made this season, according to Nancekivell, who also admitted that they are feeling a little bit of guilt after losing the manager.

“The last two games, they’ve given everything, they’ve stuck to the plan, they’ve got their blocks in, they’ve defended and had a desire to defend, and it just goes to show what you can achieve when you have that application”.

Rooney responded to the defeat by winning at Brentford by calling him a “legend” in response to Plymouth’s 11-game losing streak on social media. He responded by saying he was “so happy” for Nancekivell, who has had five separate spells in charge of the club.

The match against the Bees was Nancekivell’s last at the helm, with Miron Muslic taking over as the new Pilgrims boss.

“It’s been a tough period. We’ve been given the task of holding the fort when you lose a manager, and I’m pleased we’ve been able to show some cheers to the supporters,” Nancekivell continued.
