Second women’s ODI, Rajkot
India 370-5 (50 overs): Rodrigues 102, Deol 89, Prendergast 2-75
Ireland 254-7 (50 overs): Coulter Reilly 80, Forbes 38, Sharma 3-37
India won by 116 runs
India won the one-day international series in Rajkot on Sunday thanks to a commanding 116-run victory over Ireland.
The hosts comfortably defeated Ireland in Sunday’s second match with a six-wicket win on Friday to start the three-match series.
India posted a commanding total of 370-5 with the help of Jemimah Rodrigues hitting 102 and Harleen Deol adding 89.
The Irish made their highest ODI debut against India with a score of 254-7, and Christina Coulter Reilly led the way with her maiden international half-century, finishing 80.
Aimee Maguire, a young spinner, was reported for a suspect bowling match in Friday’s first international match, which overshadowed Ireland’s build-up to the match.
Although not allowed to play international cricket until the test results are known, Cricket Ireland said “full support” would be given to Maguire.
Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, the hosts’ captain, put on 156 for the opening partnership, and the hosts won the toss.
As India posted a difficult target, Rodrigues and Deol combined for a 183-run stand.
Before Sarah Forbes (38) and Coulter Reilly brought Ireland to 87-1, the tourists lost skipper Gaby Lewis for 12.
After Forbes fell, Coulter Reilly and Laura Delany (37) put on 83 for the fourth wicket, but Ireland were well behind the required run-rate.
With Orla Prendergast scoring 2-75, Deepti Sharma took 3-37, while Orla Prendergast was the favorite of the Irish bowlers, who finished with 254-7.
The toss had a place in it, according to Irish captain Lewis, who said that while it was a nice batting wicket, we didn’t bowl well in the first 10-15 overs.
“Progress was all we asked for when we first started the series,” the series’ creator said. From game one through game two, we did that. In this game, we allowed more runs to score, which we hope will do in the final game to claim the victory.
