Rod Stewart swings by cafe for breakfast in £290k Lamborghini as drives for first time since knee op

Have I told you lately, I love eggs and chips! Rod Stewart swings by Essex cafe for breakfast in lavish £290,000 white Lamborghini as he’s seen driving for first time since knee surgery

He was forced to undergo knee replacement surgery nearly two years ago, after sustaining an injury while playing football.

And spotted driving for the first time since having the operation in January 2020, Rod Stewart, 76, was seen swinging by a local cafe in Essex for a spot of breakfast in a lavish super car.

Earlier this month, Rod headed out in his luxury white Lamborghini, that comes with a cool price tag of £290,000, as he met wife Penny Lancaster, 50, for an early breakfast date.

The Maggie May hit-maker no doubt caused a stir was he rocked up to the cafe in his expensive 770 horse power ride.

The Aventador SVJ Lamborghini was seen parked outside of the breakfast spot, with Rod climbing into the flashy vehicle as he made a stylish exit.

Over the years, Rod has racked up an impressive car collection, spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on a number of high-end vehicles.

He previously claimed he can remember every single car he’s ever owned, with his collection including several Lamborghinis over the years, as well as a 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera, a Ferrari Enzo, he snapped up in 2003, and a Rolls Royce.

Rod’s latest ride, a sleek black and white Aventador SVJ, launched in 2019 as part of an exclusive collection by Lamborghini, with only 900 of the model being made.

It’s considered one of the most extreme models, thanks to its ‘super fast-track’ design especially tailored to race-track speed.

A penchant for fast cars, it’s no surprise Rod made sure to snap one of the models up for himself and he looked pretty pleased to be sat back behind the wheel once more.

Dressed casually in striped tracksuit bottoms, a white T-shirt and matching sports jacket, the singer was seen returning to his vehicle after his cafe breakfast and reversing away from the locally-run eatery.

It marked the first time Rod has been driving since undergoing surgery on his knee and ankle.

At the end of 2019, Rod endured ankle fusion surgery, costing £8000, before being forced to have a full knee replacement in January 2020, after sustaining an injury while playing football.

Following the operation, Rod’s wife Penny revealed that the rocker was being discharged from hospital in time to celebrate his 75th birthday.

At the time, she shared a snap of Rod dressed in a robe as she updated fans on his progress and shared: ‘Roddy is doing remarkably well after his knee replacement surgery on Tuesday (so well that the naughty boy keeps trying to walk with out his crutches).

‘Luckily he is being discharged today to celebrate his 75th tonight and home this weekend to see the boys play football.’

The surgery came after Rod revealed his knee had ‘packed up’ following years of playing football.

The Celtic fan – who previously declared he’s only good at two things; music and football – told BBC Radio 2: ‘It is from football over the years but I will be OK. I will be fine.’

Rod has previously spoken about injuring his knee during the sport and told the Daily Record recently: ‘I am very careful now. I don’t volley them straight out. I kick them in the air so people can see them coming down.

‘I don’t play football now as my right knee has packed up. So no more competitive football for me as I can’t go sideways on my knee.’

Amid his recovery from the surgery last year, Rod was seen on crutches during wife Penny’s interview on ITV’s Lorraine.

He later told The Scottish Sun: ‘My football days are over. I have a bad ankle injury which I suffered from being tackled by my 15-year-old son. I can still kick a ball when needed though.’

Rod married wife Penny back in 2007 and the couple share sons Alastair, 15, and Aiden, 10.

The artist is also dad to six other children; sons Sean, 41, and Liam, 27, and daughters Kimberly, 42, Ruby, 34, Renee, 29 and Sarah Streeter, 57.
