Rivers Sole Administrator Ibot-Ete Ibas Resumes Duty

Vice Admiral Ibot-Ete Ibas, the newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has officially resumed his or her duties.
Following a formal welcome led by the Rivers State Head of Service George Nwaeke at the airport, the former Naval Chief made his way to the Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday at noon.
The commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, the commander of the 115 Special Operations Group, Nigerian Air Force, and the general officer commanding, the 6 division of the Nigerian Army, and the commander of the country’s top security officials were with him.
The Office of the National Security Adviser’s Director of Energy Security, the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), and others.

The administrator arrived at the State Executive Council Chambers, where Permanent Secretaries met him.
Security heads, the CP, the DSS Director, the Head of Service, and the Permanent Secretaries were immediately gathered for a closed-door meeting.
After the meeting, the Sole Administrator stated that discussions with security leaders were still taking place.

He claimed he might be able to speak on a topic of interest later in the day.
He, however, expressed his gratitude for Rivers State’s calmness and pledged to restore the situation to normality.
About two days after President Bola Tinubu appointed him to lead the state’s affairs, Ibas resumed his duties.
Following Tinubu’s suspension of governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and Rivers State House of Assembly members due to the state’s never-ending political crisis, he will take over the state for six months.
