Rivers: No Assassination Attempt On Ehie – Police

A factional speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly named Edison Ehie was not the target of an assassination attempt, according to the newly appointed Commissioner of Police in River State Olatunji Disu.
The CP claimed that he only knew that police officers were on a routine convoy patrol last night, despite Ehie’s claims that they had attempted to kill him.
After paying Governor Siminalayi Fubara a cordial visit in Port Harcourt on Monday, CP Disu spoke to reporters outside the Executive Council Chambers.

The police have made “frantic efforts” to contact Edison, who served as the State House of Assembly’s Leader prior to the most recent political crisis in Rivers State. Edison has been asked to provide the police with pertinent information.
The CP noted that the lawmaker has not yet submitted a formal complaint regarding the command.
The CP responded, “For now, I haven’t gotten anything like that,” when Channels Television questioned whether he had actually received an official complaint from the state lawmaker.
However, he added that there is currently no need for concern.
In addition, the CP pledged to make his phone number available for any public or factional speaker complaints.
CP Disu assured the Governor during the polite visit that he was aware of how complicated the state’s security situation was given his responsibility for overseeing the divisional police officers in two Divisional Headquarters as well as the State Criminal Investigation Department.
In order to effectively combat crime in the state, he pledged to lead an intelligence-driven force and work with the locals.
In his response, Governor Siminalayi Fubara urged the newly appointed CP to conduct himself professionally after the State House of Assembly was rocked by the crisis.
The CP and the governor’s management team were assured by Governor Fubara that the force would not be subjected to unfavorable demands from his administration.
He asserted that he is for everyone and not just one person and pledged to help the police run smoothly.
He believes that the comfort of the state and the legacy he will leave behind are what matter most to him.
