Rivers Govt Pledges Enhanced Healthcare For Gas Explosion Victims

The Rivers State Government reiterated its commitment on Thursday to enhance the state’s healthcare system for gas survivors who lost in the state’s New Year’s Eve explosion.

During a visit to the survivors at the State Government Hospital on Wednesday, Professor Ngozi Odu, the deputy governor, made this known.

Professor Odu expressed his deep regret over the tragic loss of three of the 18 people who were the victims of the explosion in an address after assessing their conditions.

She assured the public that the state government would work hard to provide comprehensive medical care to the only remaining survivors who received the best possible care.

The hospital’s chief medical director, the commissioner for health, the permanent secretary of the ministry of health, and Professor Odu are touring the facility to check the condition of the survivors.

At least 18 people were seriously burned in the blast, which took place on January 4 on Saturday, January 4, three of whom were hospitalized after succumbing to their injuries.

Among the victims, nine were members of the Jehovah’s Witness Community, who had gathered to speak with one of their members, the cellphone repairer, who tragically lost his life with his daughter.

The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital is currently treating the survivors in a number of wards.
