Just before Oasis was announced, Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft spent a restless morning walking his dogs.
In addition to enjoying some downtime ahead of the mammoth tour, he will be playing in front of a large crowd in the UK in a matter of months. Over the weekend, Richard, 53, and his 30-year-old wife Kate Radley took to the trails with their two dogs.
The Britpop star wore blue jeans and a red sweatshirt to keep warm. He wore brown boots and his distinctive dark curly hair, which he wore underneath a corduroy bucket hat. As Kate and Richard walked into a park while Kate wore a black puffer coat from Manchester United.

This summer, Richard will head out on the road with brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, who have finally put their long-running feud behind them. Richard and Cast will appear on the bill, which is expected to be a 90s nostalgia fest. Liam stated as he announced the organization’s support for the world-record-breaking tour: “I’m of the opinion that this is a massive c**t LG x. Just spoke to the CHEF here it is OASIS RICHARD ASHCROFT CAST.
Cast the 1 n only Richard Ashcroft and us s**t c***s that are worth 98 grands worth of any bumblebees not so hard earned cash, wrote Liam’s follow-up post. “Only kidding, we never set sail without the 1 and only RICARDO, because he’s our boy from day one, DOT come aboard Rkid,” added another comment.

The Manchester siblings supported The Verve in 1993 before they rose to fame, and Oasis and Richard do so in a very retro way. Even Richard served as inspiration for Cast No Shadow, a 1995 Oasis track. The Verve continued to support the band after Oasis won the song’s superstardom at their massive performance at Earls Court in 1997.
Richard tied the knot with wife Kate Radley, a former member of Spiritualized, in 1995 and the pair are parents to Sonny, born in 2000, and Cassius, born in 2004. Some of his most heartfelt lyrics were inspired by his relationship with ex-Sarah Carpenter before his secret wedding to Kate.

Sarah leaving the rock star for one of his closest friends, which was far from amicable. Richard took a swipe at Sarah as he played to 33, 000 fans in his hometown of Wigan as he introduced the song, History, written about their break-up. In front of thousands of fans, he blurted: “Despite what you think, this isn’t about you. You know who you are, you snide f*****. This song’s about love and peace”. What Richard didn’t know at the time was that Sarah, who remained a fan of The Verve, was in the crowd.
Speaking to the Mirror in 1998, Sarah revealed she never regretted leaving the star for the band’s former roadie, Andy Burke. When she learned she could no longer live with the singer’s newfound celebrity, Andy offered her comfort. “I know people must think I am mad, but I was never cut out to be a rock star’s girlfriend”, Sarah said.

“I wanted to be Sarah in my own right, not ‘ Richard Ashcroft’s girlfriend’. I could be living with a man who is a millionaire’s idol. However, I made the decision to prioritize being a pop star wife over being me. Sarah, who inspired many of the song’s on The Verve’s album Urban Hymns, first met Richard at Winstanley College where they were both studying for A-levels.
“He was completely out of the ordinary”, she added. “He wasn’t educationally intelligent and he didn’t read loads of book or anything. He was more spiritual. Physically, he was unusual too. Someone once said that Richard was either extraordinarily beautiful or extraordinarily ugly. To me, he was handsome. He looked arrogant, but really it was just confidence. He might be very shy and occasionally very outgoing. And he was incredibly humorous.
