Real Housewives Of New Jersey: Gia Giudice shares heartfelt eulogy for late grandfather Giacinto
Gia Giudice shared a heartfelt eulogy for her late grandfather Giacinto Gorga on Wednesday’s episode of The Real Housewives Of New Jersey.
The 20-year-old daughter of Teresa Giudice, 48, gave a speech that she first delivered in April 2020 during his funeral that was limited in attendance due to coronavirus restrictions.
‘I loved him so much, so this is going to be a lot,’ Gia told family and friends who gathered for a celebration of her grandfather’s life.
Gia praised him as an ‘amazing father, devoted husband and grandfather’ and as his ‘first grand-daughter’ thanked him for being her best friend.
‘He really was my best friend,’ Gia said while also heaping praise on him for being the ‘rock’ of their family.
‘Now we will celebrate you and remember you every day for the rest of our lives. Rest easy and tell Nonna we all say hi and we love you both with all our hearts. May you two rest in peace together sempre insieme. We love you,’ Gia concluded referencing her late grandmother Antonia Gorga, who died in March 2017 at age 66 after a battle with pneumonia.
‘Sempre insieme means always together,’ Teresa explained.
The group who all wore white then dropped flower petals into the water in remembrance.
Teresa in a confessional also reflected on her late father and their good times together.
‘I remember, like, when I was getting married, he came with me to get my wedding dress. I went with him to pick everything out. He was a shopper like me. So, he just became like my best friend. He was so special to us, and I’m always gonna remember that,’ Teresa said fighting back tears.
Teresa’s brother Joe Gorga, 41, then gathered everyone for a group shot together.
‘Here’s to the legend!,’ he toasted.
The season 11 episode titled Memorial Mayhem also featured marriage drama between Joe and his wife Melissa Gorga, 41, during the group trip to the Jersey Shore.
Joe got hurt when Melissa walked ahead of him to their vehicle after dinner.
‘What are you mad about? Did I do something wrong?,’ Melissa wondered.
‘I would just like my wife to wait for me and you just walk away like you don’t even have a husband,’ Joe said as he climbed in with Margaret Josephs, her husband Joe Benigno, Jackie Goldschneider and her husband Evan.
‘From now on, you just go by yourself while I just walk in the back,’ Joe told his wife.
Joe openly admitted that their relationship dynamic had changed.
‘We used to be so attached and I’m still like that. She’s just changed. You turned into this different businesswoman,’ Joe told Melissa in front of the group.
‘If I have a little success in my personal life, it’s not against you. Let your wife have a little something that’s my own. It doesn’t mean I don’t love you,’ countered Melissa.
Melissa opened her Envy boutique in 2016 and explained in a confessional that her business was ‘what this fight is really about’.
‘It started a couple years ago with Envy. I’m not home as much as I used to be. I have to go to Fashion Week. I have to go to trade shows. I have appearances, red carpets. If it were up to him, I would just cook and clean and I’ll be here at four with your dinner,’ she said.
Joe during the ride back to their Jersey Shore home told his wife, ‘Maybe we grew apart. It’s just life.’
‘I’ve kissed your a** for how many f***ing years, so you sit home while I go to work now. You are so spoiled!,’ Melissa shouted back as Joe warned that he was on the brink of never speaking to her again.
Melissa and Joe after getting back to the house aired their grievances to their friends.
‘He has a very old school mentality. When we started our marriage, I was 24 years old. I did whatever Joe told me to do. He was someone who was jealous. At the end of the day, I don’t want to feel guilt for achieving things that I want to achieve. He tells me that’s wrong,’ Melissa told Margaret and Jackie.
Joe meanwhile was telling Joe Benigno that Melissa had ‘changed a little’.
‘For me, it bothers me. I want to be loved. Is that a problem?,’ he asked.
Joe and Melissa got married in 2004 and have daughter Antonia, 15, and sons Joey, 10, and Gino, 13, together.
‘When you get too much success, you become a different person. I call fame the devil. The devil comes into your soul and you forget who you really are,’ Joe said in a confessional.
Joe later told his wife that she was ‘too involved’ with her work.
‘I feel so bad when you say that. What did I do wrong to you?,’ Melissa said.
‘You’ve just changed. You’re just different, a little bit,’ Joe said.
Melissa and Joe despite the intense arguing put their differences aside to form a reunited front for Giacinto’s memorial.
The Real Housewives Of New Jersey will return next week on Bravo.
