The Scottish Women’s Premier League returned from its winter break with big wins for Rangers, Glasgow City, and Hibernian.

On a busy day of top-flight action, reigning champions Celtic and top-six hopefuls Motherwell both recorded victories.

With two games in hand, City are five points clear of Rangers at the top of the table, Hibs is three points ahead, Heart of Midlothian is one point clear, and Celtic are nine points behind the leaders.

City defeated Aberdeen 6-1, with the only goal coming from Nicola Jameison, the defender’s first for the Dons, thanks to Nicole Kozlova and Brenna Lovera, who both scored twice.

Hibs eased aside Spartans, scoring an early flurry that put them 5-0 up in the first half.

They remained in control, but they only managed to find the back of the net once more in the second period.

Despite a challenging afternoon at home, Celtic triumphed 4-2 over city rivals Partick Thistle.

Competent forward Carla Boyce’s opener for Striker Saoirse Noonan was cut short early in the second half.

With 15 minutes left, Noonan’s addition to the scoreline and substitutes Kelly Clark and Maria McAneny put Celtic on course for the three points before Demi Falconer’s late goal turned the tables for the visitors.

Dundee United, three points behind Queen’s Park at the bottom, were dealt more misery in a 6-1 home defeat by Motherwell.

Motherwell four had a chance at the break thanks to two doubles from Laura Berry’s forward and daughter Chelsie Watson.
