Prince Harry has made a ‘ mistake ‘ with an “unreasonable expectation” ahead of his return to the UK in the coming day, an expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex will be visiting London from his US residence on Tuesday to witness his upcoming High Court trial against News Group Newspapers. During his trip, it has emerged he will be given “limited police protection” despite losing his legal battle for taxpayer funded security.
According to a source, Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has agreed to provide Royalty and Specialist Protection Command armed officers to the Duke of Sussex. It comes after Harry lost a legal dispute over his protection while visiting the UK last year. When he stopped being a working royal, he was contesting the decision to lower his security status.
Since Harry no longer has a residence in the UK, it is unclear where he will reside. According to what sources, he may have accepted a reservation for a room at Buckingham Palace. And former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond thinks this is a bad choice.
She told the Mirror, “I think he will be a little irritated that he is not receiving full police protection, but this is a step in the right direction.” I believe that refusing to stay at Buckingham Palace, where security is already in place, is a PR blunder.
It seems unreasonable to assume police protection would surround a hotel simply because he chooses to decline a good offer of secure lodging. Meghan and Prince Archie, their children, will remain at home when Harry travels to his native country, according to Meghan. Since the late Queen’s passing in September 2022, she has not returned to the UK.
He claimed at a previous hearing that his wife and children in the UK should not be brought there without being automatically protected by police. And Jennie continued, “I still don’t believe he will feel comfortable bringing Meghan and the kids here without ensuring full police protection.” And I’m assuming Meghan doesn’t, in any way, want to return here.
Many people were curious about Harry’s recent, fleeting travels to Britain, particularly with his father, King Charles and brother, Prince William. When Harry fled to the UK after the announcement of the monarch’s cancer diagnosis, it appears as though he may have last seen his father almost a year ago.
Harry has visited the UK several times, but he hasn’t seen his father, who is still receiving cancer treatment. According to reports, the pair’s security-related situation has become a sticking point, with reports suggesting they aren’t speaking terms. Meanwhile, Harry is not believed to have spoken to William, with whom he has had an icy feud with for several years, since the late Queen’s death.
The couple did attend the memorial service for their late aunt Jane, a sister of their late mother Princess Diana, and their late uncle Lord Robert Fellowes, who was killed in Norfolk. Despite the brothers being present at the service, it is believed that they never spoke to one another and kept their distance.
And Jennie added that while possible, any family gatherings in the upcoming weeks seem far off. When Harry and his family travels to the UK, she continued, “I think we’ve given up expecting any meeting.” Although I assume his court case will likely consume his days, I’d say it’s possible to meet his father.
“However, there is absolutely no sign of any reconciliation between Harry and William. Therefore, any interaction between them is still incredibly unlikely.
