According to reports, Spotify employees gave Prince Harry and Meghan Markle vile nicknames.

According to legend, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s secret moniker was the creation of angry former employees who had a successful £18 million deal with the streaming giant when their podcast Archetypes was dropped in June 2023 after just one series.

Although the 43-year-old Meghan hosted the podcast, which featured guests like Mariah Carey, Serena Williams, and Paris Hilton, it was decided not to make a second series in a blow to the former royals.

Former Spotify employees who worked with Meghan on the show now claim to have provided a “warning signal” that she was “arriving or on the warpath” according to UK royal correspondent Neil Sean. He said: “Ex-staff members told me they decided to christen her ‘ Eva. ‘”

He explained to Fox News: “This wasn’t an engaging pet nickname. The nickname came from the 1955 camp classic ‘ Queen Bee ‘ starring the ultimate diva herself – Joan Crawford…This is because, like the Joan character]Eva Phillips], she stung her victims to pieces. This is exactly how staff felt about working alongside]Meghan]”.

The movie’s synopsis states that it is about “a socialite who manipulates everyone around her, only to ruin their lives.” Meghan had no idea what the nickname she had been given while producing the podcast, according to the source.

Additionally, Neil claimed that Meghan’s “mood swings” caused them to be “extremely difficult to deal with” behind the scenes and that they thought she was “quite tough and bossy.” Meghan also claimed that she only wanted to talk to “the person at the top” while working on the show with other employees.

Prince Harry was apparently dubbed 'Tim Nice-But-Dim' after the Harry Enfield character
According to reports, Prince Harry was given the name “Tim Nice-But-Dim” in honor of the Harry Enfield character (PA).

And though she started out as “warm and effusive”, whenever something went wrong “often due to Meghan and Harry’s own demands”, it’s claimed Meghan would become “cold and withholding towards the person she perceived to be responsible”, according to Neil’s source. He says he was told: “At the beginning people were beguiled by Meghan’s presence. But as she grew more demanding, she was obviously forgetting her days as a struggling actress.

And it wasn’t only Meghan that was given a nickname. In reference to the 1990s British comedy character in Harry Enfield &amp, Chums, Neil claimed that her husband Prince Harry was known as “Timothy-But-Dim.” Tim, who is renowned for his endearing but clueless personality, was supposed to represent “low attainers from an affluent background” and possessed the catchphrase “bloody nice bloke!”

The iconic character is played by Harry Enfield, who also plays Prince Charles in Channel 4 parody series about the royals, The Windsors. For comment on this story, The Mirror reached out to Spotify and Harry and Meghan’s reps.
