Pope Francis to leave hospital on Sunday, needs two months rest: Doctors

One of the doctors who is treating him claims that Pope Francis will be discharged from the hospital on Sunday and will need two months of rest at the Vatican.

Francis, 88, was taken to a hospital in Rome on February 14th because of a severe respiratory condition that required developing medicine.

For his recovery, Catholics and other Catholics have been praying. Francis has been greeted by many people outside Gemelli University Hospital, where he is admitted, with flowers, candles, and notes.

Francis will make his first public appearance since leaving the hospital on Sunday.

Following Angelus’ prayers, Pope Francis plans to wave and receive a blessing from Rome’s Agostino Gemelli hospital, according to the Vatican on Saturday.

Every Sunday at noon (11:00 GMT), the pope typically recites the Angelus prayers. The pope hasn’t prayed for five straight weeks, for the first time since winning in March 2013, because of his hospitalization.

During previous hospital stays, Francis has made public appearances at Gemelli Hospital. After having a colonectomy, he performed the Angelus prayer on July 11, 2021, from his balcony on the tenth floor of the hospital.

However, his papacy’s longest hospitalization is right now.

The Vatican announced on Wednesday that Francis had suspended using an oxygen mask and that his medical condition was “improving,” which raises questions about who might manage the demanding schedule of religious events leading up to Easter on April 20, the most holy day of the Christian calendar.

No definitive decisions have been made yet, according to the Vatican.

Despite improving, there is a lot of rumors that Francis might step down because of his fragility, a step up from Benedict XVI.

Pope Pietro Parolin announced to the media on Monday that Francis’s condition had improved.
