Police Rescue Kidnap Victim In Edo, Arrest Suspected Cultist

A suspected cultist who shot a man was also apprehended by police in Edo State after rescuing an abductee, recovering a stolen vehicle, and making arrests. &nbsp,

This is in accordance with a statement made by Moses Yamu, the spokesman for the Edo Police Command, on Sunday.

“On 08/02/2025 at about 1700hrs, operatives of the Ologbo Division successfully rescued one Osazee Okungbowa from the grip of his abductors”, Yamu said.

He said five armed men abducted the victim around 9: 45 pm on the 7th of February, 2025 in his residence at the power line area of Owanoba community.

The man has “been reunited with his family after receiving medical attention while the command continues with the trail of the suspects,” according to the police spokesman.

In addition, Yamu reported that the police in Benin City’s Upper Mission Extension, the capital of Edo State, have recovered a stolen vehicle from the owner.

The police statement read, “Operatives of the Okuaihe Division chased after the car snatchers who eventually abandoned the car at Iguomon Community along Benin-Agbor Road.”

Yamu claimed the car was “owner identified and the vehicle handed over to him” after being taken to the police station. The suspects are still being sought and detained.

A suspected cultist was detained in Benin in a related development after he shot another person at a burial site in the city’s Aduwawa neighborhood.

The said Kelly Osayawe, who is armed with a locally made cut-to-size pistol with four live rounds fired into the air, shot one Mr. Nzube Cletus Mbum who was standing in front of his shop, according to the Edo Police Command image-maker.
