Police Quizzes Sowore Over Viral Extortion Video

Omoyele Sowore, a rights activist, was grilled on Monday at the Force Intelligence Bureau in Abuja over his most recent extortion video, which featured some police officers.

Sowore claimed in the video that the officers were engaging in some illegal activity on the Lagos-Murtala Muhammed Airport Road.

In the video, Sowore and some of the police officers confronted as they approached a car coming from Lagos to collect him and demanded to park.

The viral video sparked several reactions, causing the police to invite him for further interrogation.

Sowore and his attorneys, as well as a few supporters, sang songs of solidarity at the Force Intelligence Bureau.

Monday’s visit was not Sowore’s first encounter with the police and other security agencies. The African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate for 2023 was “briefly detained” at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos in September 2024 for allegedly interfering with the #EndBadGovernance protests that shook the nation in August.
