After Sex Education star Reece Richards claimed he was the subject of an “unlawful arrest” earlier this year, a police officer is facing a criminal investigation, according to the Independent Office For Police Conduct (IOPC).

According to the IOPC, a second police officer is being looked into for potential misconduct while the same officer is being investigated for potential gross misconduct.

Richards claimed in an Instagram post that he had been sprayed by police with an incapacitating liquid and that he had been kicked and thrown to the ground by officers in Fulham, west London, in September this year after being mistaken for a suspect and that he had been mistreated by them because he had allegedly not “fit the description” of.

Our investigation into the September 4 incident on Fulham Palace Road, West London, is still being looked into, according to an IOPC spokesperson. The Met Police officers’ use of force during the arrest of a man, who was later detained, are the subject of an investigation.

We informed an officer that they were facing a criminal charge for a common assault offense in November. A second officer is also under investigation for possible misconduct, and the same officer is also facing allegations of gross misconduct.

Obviously, this does not imply that there will be disciplinary or criminal proceedings. At the conclusion of our investigation, we will decide whether to refer any officers to the Crown Prosecution Service or whether to start disciplining them. ”
