Police Confirm Six Dead, 14 Vehicles Burnt In Abuja Explosion

Following an explosion at the Karu Bridge in the nation’s capital, according to federal authorities, six people died and fourteen vehicles were burned. &nbsp,

Residents of the capital city on Wednesday were in a state of panic as a result of the incident.

This is in accordance with a statement from the FCT Police Command’s spokeswoman.

The FCT Police Command regrets the devastating auto accident that occurred just before Nyanya Bridge today, March 19, 2025, at around 6:58 PM. A Dangote trailer, which was approaching Nyanya Bridge from AYA, lost control and struck stationary vehicles that were stranded in traffic, according to a distress call received by the Karu Division.

In a raging inferno, the impact shattered fourteen vehicles. As bystanders and drivers frantically searched for safety, there was a bang and chaos. The scene was quickly reached by emergency personnel who battled dense smoke and intense heat to free the trapped people. Six victims were taken from the wreckage and taken to the hospital, but tragically, medical staff members found them dead. The Karu General Hospital Morgue has housed their remains.

The inferno was contained by police forces, firefighters, other security forces, and brave people present at the scene, and normal traffic flow has resumed.

The FCT Police Command offers its condolences to the victims’ families and offers to the public that a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the source of this disaster and stop future tragedies.
