Peaches Geldof’s widow Thomas Cohen shares candid comment on finding love again
Following his tragic wife’s tragic passing, musician Thomas Cohen has expressed his happiness that he has found love once more.
The 33-year-old pop-punk frontman was devastated when he found Peaches dead in 2014 at the age of 25 while their 11-month-old son, Phaedra, was by her side. After Thomas became upset that Peaches was not answering her phone, he discovered her in their home in Kent, making a heartbreaking discovery.
Peaches struggled with drugs and had a two-year heroin addiction before she passed away from an unspecified overdose before her death. She was the daughter of late model Paula Yates and Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof. She allegedly concealed her drug and addiction from her husband during an inquest into her death.
Thomas, who welcomed Phaedra, now aged 11, and older son Astala, now 12 – and who had been with his grandparents at the time of Peaches ‘ death – began dating model Yasmin El Yassini, 30, in 2019. He has now made an honest admission about their relationship.
He is quoted as saying in a rare instance in a private interview that “it’s a relief to actually be able to love someone.” Years after he revealed how he helped his sons deal with losing their mother, he made these new comments.
After losing their mother so quickly, he said in a 2016 German TV interview that “I believe the most crucial thing is to give them stability and safety.” They no longer recognize their mother as their mother. At the time, they were all just one and two years old. They are, miraculously, having happy childhoods”.
The musician has also described how he used transcendental meditation to cope with his grief recently. He said in an interview last year, per the Daily Mail: “It completely changed everything. It was incredibly profound”. He continued to say that he received “the tools to not stay in pain” as a result of meditation.
Thomas remarked in a 2016 interview with the Guardian that Peaches’ addiction issues made him more afraid of falling in love. He told the publication: “I think any time you love someone, you’re slightly scared of it.
However, it gets worse when they have addiction issues and the relationship between life and death is so constant and intertwined throughout the entire process. But that doesn’t take away from any of the experience or relationship. “
Asked if he felt scared to love his boys, he replied:” Nooooooo, they’re not scary! I believe that when I first had kids, I just knew I was very eager to love something the way you would a child.
Peaches ‘ mother, Paula Yates, also died from a heroin overdose at the age of 41 in 2000. She was also mother to 41-year-old Fifi and 34-year-old Pixie Geldof, who she welcomed with Bob, and 28-year-old daughter Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily, who she shared with late INXS singer Michael Hutchence – who died aged 37 in 1997.
