Two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Humphrey Abba and Tajudeen Yusuf, have disagreed over the Court of Appeal judgement on the party’s national convention, which was nullified.
The party chieftains spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld the decisions of the Federal High Court in Abuja, nullifying the party’s national convention, which was held in Ibadan, Oyo State, between 15 and 16 November 2025.
Abba, a former minister of police affairs, believes that the judgement of the high court in Ibadan, Oyo State, was fraught with a lot of irregularities.
“The judgement of the high court in Ibadan was written with a lot of irregularities. The matter on the appeal is coming out on Wednesday; the issue that was canvassed in Ibadan did not call for a pronouncement,” he said.

However, Yusuf, who was a member of the National Assembly, says the intention of the party from day one is to ‘disobey the court order.’
“The intention from day one was to disobey the court order, and some of us saw this, and we started appealing before the Ibadan convention,” he said on the show.
“We referred to what happened in Rivers in 2016. When we were in Rivers, all of us gathered there to have a convention. We saw this kind of challenge; there was a high court ruling. So why must we go into a convention that will be subject to litigation if we don’t know the outcome?” Yusuf stated
Their reaction came a day after the Court of Appeal ruled out the November 2025 party’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Court Of Appeal Verdict
In its judgment, a three-member panel of the court barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the convention, including the emergence of Taminu Turaki’s leadership of the party.
