As rumors of a split surface, Irish actor Paul Mescal may once again be a single man due to his most recent outing with his girlfriend Grace Abrams.
When onlookers spotted what appeared to be a break-up between singer Gracie and the 28-year-old Normal People actor, 28, and Hollywood director JJ Abrams’ 25-year-old daughter, they were reportedly dining at a London restaurant. They were then said to have burst into a stream of tears before storming out of the eatery.
Before things started to turn sour, other customers claimed Paul had his “head in his hands as Gracie just sat there crying” at one point, according to Paul and the Tough Love singer, who was apparently enjoying a meal at the North London bakery-come-restaurant Jolene in Newington Green.
One witness claims that after she started crying, she started too. He was left to pay the bill before leaving shortly after she eventually rose and exited the restaurant while she was halfway through their meal.
They continue to claim that Paul and Gracie’s altercation “sighted like a break-up” and that other diners in the establishment were shocked by how open-doors it was. Paul and Gracie’s representatives have been contacted by The Mirror for comment on this story.
Prior to their split in December 2022, Gladiator II star Paul had a two-year relationship with American singer Phoebe Bridgers. The actor revealed the devastating rumors about his love life that started to circulate on social media at the end of 2023 last year and how they had affected his family.
The BAFTA-winning actor would then leave his one-night stands for a walk the following day, distract them, and then leave. Some even claimed that he would quickly flee after finding a bird to his date. More than three million people watched a video that claimed to show “actual footage” of him fleeing.
His January 2024 appearance on Chicken Shop Date with Amelia Dimoldenberg only fueled the speculation. During the interview, he shared that his idea of a romantic date was “a good long walk”. “I love walking, a good long walk is romantic to me” he said. “Simple pleasures, I’m a simple man”.
The 28-year-old actor discussed the impact these rumors, which he firmly believes are “categorically untrue,” had on his family, especially his mother Dearbhla, during a conversation with GQ in November ahead of his lead role in Gladiator II. “We]Mescal and his siblings] were looking at the videos and we were p****** ourselves at it. Categorically untrue. And we were laughing, laughing, laughing, laughing”, he started.
The actor recalled a personal incident in which she said, “My mother was upset because I was in the kitchen, and I remember her getting upset. Isn’t that devastating? I was like, Oh, it’s funny to us my brother, me, my sister because we know that this is the way the internet works”.
He went on: “It’s hilarious. If it was true, it’d be f****** bad, but as a rumour, it’s funny. Then I was like, Oh, if you’re a mother, her impulse is to come out and be like, ‘ He wouldn’t do this. ‘”
