Onne Customs Command Elevates 36 Officers, Calls For Integrity, Dedication

Following their recent promotions, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Onne Area II Command formally decorated 36 officers.

The ceremony, held on Monday at the command’s headquarters in Rivers State, was led by Comptroller Mohammed Babandede, with senior officers from sister security agencies and stakeholders in attendance.

Speaking during the event, Comptroller Babandede congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and dedication in the discharge of their duties.

He called for stronger collaborations with sister security organizations and other parties involved in the maritime sector, highlighting the crucial role that collaboration plays in improving operational efficiency.

As a result of Babandede’s emphasis on the importance of the promotion, which is a call to greater responsibility as well as a reward for previous accomplishments, Babandede also stressed that the promotion requires renewed commitment and diligence as it is a privilege as opposed to a right.

“Promotion is a privilege, it is not a right. For those who have not gotten it, their time will come, and God’s willing, they will get it. I’d advise those who are promoted to consider themselves chosen not because they are the best, but because they are fortunate, and also because they have more responsibilities to bear.

You have received a very significant task for promoting you, and the service promoting you. Therefore, the service expects much from you. You have to be a patriotic officer. You must display a High level of integrity. He said, “You must have the service’s interests at heart and Nigeria’s,”

One of the newly decorated officers, AO Fakhogi, expressed gratitude on behalf of the group, pledging their commitment to contributing more effectively to the Command’s mission of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and national security.
