Okpebholo Suspends Edo Attorney General, LG Commission Chairman

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has suspended the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie.

The Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, announced the suspension in a statement on Thursday.

He claimed that Damian Lawani, the head of the Local Government Service Commission, was also given the governor’s approval.

The SSG reported that the two top officials had “grave official and financial interactions.”

The suspension, which takes immediate effect, is pending the conclusion of an investigation into the allegations.

Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the resignations of Damian Lawani, the chairman of the Edo Local Government Service Commission, and Samson Osagie, the commissioner for justice, over allegations of grave official and financial infractions, according to a hereby made public for the benefit of the general public.

” The suspension is with immediate effect. In response, the governor has mandated the establishment of an investigative committee to examine the allegations made against them and make appropriate recommendations.

Osagie and Lawani’s suspension made sense because it allowed the government to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations of financial crimes against them. The suspension is pending the conclusion of the investigation”, the statement said.
