Ogba School Building Collapsed After Evacuation, No Injuries – LASEMA

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that a four-storey building in the Aguda area of Ogba collapsed after students, teachers, and staff were safely evacuated.

The building, located at 11 Adu Street behind County Hospital, housed a nursery, primary, and secondary school.

According to a preliminary report by LASEMA, distress alerts were received around 12:03 p.m. on Sunday, prompting the activation of its response team from the Command and Control Centre in Alausa, Ikeja. The team arrived at the scene at 12:25 p.m. and confirmed that the structure had already collapsed.

LASEMA explained that the collapse followed an emergency evacuation after authorities noticed signs of structural instability.

Preliminary findings indicate that the building had been identified as unsafe, and the evacuation prevented any casualties. Officials said the exact cause of the defects is yet to be fully determined.

Emergency responders at the scene included LASEMA Response Teams, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps.

The area was cordoned off to prevent secondary incidents, and the site has been handed over to LASBCA for further investigation and post-incident management.
