Obasa: Lagos Assembly Tightens Security As Plenary Holds Monday

Following the speaker’s impeachment, Mudashiru Obasa, the development comes in the wake of ongoing controversies.
A notice to staff signed by Omotayo Adekemi on behalf of the Ag was presented to the Assembly complex on Monday, according to our correspondent who was present at the Assembly complex. According to the House’s representative, Taiwo Ottun, all employees and legislative assistants must present current identification cards to enter the House.
Anyone without a valid identity card will be denied entry, according to Ottun.
Regardless of what happens at the assembly, he claimed the Lagos State Police Command has also pledged to keep the state’s order.

Two days after Obasa broke his silence, he was ordered to remain in the chair until the proper procedure was followed.
Following allegations of misconduct and financial misappropriation, Obasa was fired by the majority of House members on January 13, 2025. He was subsequently replaced by the Deputy Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.
Meanwhile, members of the Lagos State House are expected to hold a plenary session Monday.
