NYSC Reopens Zamfara Orientation Camp One Year After
After being closed for 16 months due to security concerns, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has since reopened its Zamfara State orientation camp.  ,
Batch C Stream 1 corps members who were deployed to the state were also sworn-in at the temporary camp in Gusau on Friday.
The state government is renovating and reconstructing the permanent orientation camp in Tsafe town, which is the local government area’s headquarters.
Prospective corps members posted to the state had experienced disruptions as a result of the camp’s closure in 2023, while many were transferred to Kebbi and other states for orientation programs.

The NYSC leadership expressed confidence in the improved security situation, which led to the resume of activities.
Muhammad Lawan Ahmed, the coordinator of Zamfara State NYSC, advised corps members to concentrate on achieving national cohesion and integration while utilizing the skills-acquisition programs offered at the orientation camp.
He said, “This ceremony is significant and historic because it marks the state’s response to orientation activities more than a year after (closed).”
“At the end of call-up registration, 400 corp members made up 320 males and 80 females are ready to be sworn in and formally Kickstart the orientation course.
I want to greet you to Zamfara State from my dear Corp members; however, I ask that you maintain a high standard of discipline, tolerance, and proper comprehension of the orientation course’s fundamental principles.
Dauda Lawal, the governor of Zamfara State, urged the corps members to serve as effective ambassadors for their respective states and the NYSC scheme.
He urged them to embrace Zamfara’s abundance of opportunities for growth and learning, while stressing the importance of community and service.
To gain first-hand knowledge of Zamfara State, he said, “I urge you to take every section of the orientation course seriously and specifically pay attention to the lectures of your immediate environment.”
We will continue to work with the National Youth Service Corps to ensure that the State gets the most out of this noble program. We will give you all the support you need to carry out your duties and ensure your safety and welfare.
Mohammed Dalijan, the head of Zamfara State Police, stated to journalists at the gathering that adequate security measures have been in place to protect the corps members’ lives.
The fact that you have seen me here, the Brigade Commander, and the DSS Director, indicate that we are prepared to provide adequate security to the corporers in Zamfara State, the CP said. “Zamfara is now safe.
The orientation camp was closed because of insecurity, but it has since been opened because the state’s security has improved. We won’t advise NYSC to send them there because there is no security, instead they will be deployed there because the Army and police are prepared to make another deployment there where NYSC members are serving.
The corps members who took part in the orientation program expressed joy about their deployment to Zamfara.
While speaking with Channels Television, some corps members highlighted their eagerness to embrace the state’s culture and contribute to its development.
I have never been to the North before, but I have a new way to start new things, so I was excited when NYSC sent me to Zamfara. I have never been there before, and I have never been there.
