

The Forward Operating Base of the Nigerian Navy successfully shut down nine rogue refining sites in the Obenla community, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, in a decisive crackdown on oil theft and illicit refining.
Additionally, the operation resulted in the destruction of 15, 000 litres of illegally refined diesel and 20, 000 litres of crude oil that had been stolen.
This operation, carried out on January 6, 2025, following credible intelligence, according to Navy Captain Aliyu Usman, Commander of the Base on Thursday.
Significant outcomes have been achieved by the Nigerian Navy in its efforts to stop all illegal refining and crude oil theft in the country.
He claimed that the Navy’s commitment to preventing illegal activities and cleaning up the environment was demonstrated by the nine illegal refining sites discovered within the Obenla sea sites.
According to Persecondnews, the suspects fled the scene before naval operatives arrived, so they could not be apprehended.
The Navy has been working tirelessly to stop oil thieves and economic saboteurs from abusing the nation’s economy and environment.
