Neighbours’ Guy Pearce splits from Game of Thrones girlfriend as she makes shock confession
Neighbours star Guy Pearce has split from his Game of Thrones girlfriend Carice van Houten as she made a shock confession on her social media page.
The 48-year-old Dutch actress took to her Instagram page this week to reveal she and Guy haven’t been a couple for ‘years’ but remain friends. She posted a snap of her and the 57-year-old on her Instagram Stories and wrote: “I don’t usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but because of a number of conclusions in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear.
“He and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven’t been a couple for years. ” Carice, who shares a nine-year-old son with Guy, added: “I am, however, very proud to say we are in a wonderful partnership raising the true love of our lives – our beautiful son and his hamster. The end. ”
Neighbours actor Guy, who is known for his role as Mike Young in the show, started dating Carice in 2015 after he ended his almost 20-year marriage to Kate Mestitz. Carice, who played Melisandre of Asshai in Game of Thrones, welcomed her and Guy’s son Monte in 2016.
It was assumed the couple was still together until Guy referred to his ex-wife Kate as the “greatest love of my life” earlier this month. He told The Guardian at the time: “My ex-wife, Kate, was the greatest love of my life, but I’ve moved on from her now, and the greatest love of my life is my child, Monte. “
In 2021, Guy revealed becoming a father made him become emotional. “After Monte was born, someone said to me, “You realise you’re now living with your heart on the outside? ” And it really is true, isn’t it? ” he explained to The Independent. “When I started acting, I knew if I needed to cry that it could come out easily. Then after 15 years of therapy, I became a far calmer and more satisfied human being, but trying to cry in a scene became impossible. “
The Memento actor continued: “Since having my boy though, I cry at the drop of a hat again… ” He also previously discussed how having his son helped him connect with his father who passed away when the actor was a child. His father, a New Zealand test pilot, died after his plane crashed when Guy was eight.
The Mare Of Easttown actor spent his adult years trying to find out more about his father. “It’s like I was looking for the answer about my dad in this one place whereas it was somewhere else all along,” he said. “It almost makes me want to tear up. The idea that I am now carrying feelings that I believe he felt connects me to him more than any amount of intellectual thoughts.
“I feel I owe it to him to carry on the fatherly job, the parental task – because he couldn’t. ”
