NCDC Officials Arrive In Ondo To Combat Rising Cases Of Lassa Fever
In response to the state’s rising Lassa fever cases, a team of experts from the National Center for Disease Control (NCD) has arrived in Ondo.
In his statement to state government officials, Dr. Olubunmi Olopha, the head of the NCDC team, claimed the state had assembled a team of experts to provide the necessary support in the wake of the lassa fever outbreak.
Since the state’s reported outbreak, less than 90 of the 200 suspected cases have been confirmed, according to Olopha, which has necessitated the synergy between NCDC and the state government.

She urged healthcare providers to stop putting off referring suspected cases to appropriate state-based facilities because this would reduce the number of fatalities brought on by the illness.
The state government team’s head of government, Bayo Philip, also addressed the audience by stating that the state government is working toward a victory over lassa fever and other illnesses.
Philip demanded that the state’s ministries of health, agriculture, and environment as well as other relevant MDAs take urgent steps to stop the state’s yearly lassa fever recurrence.
The team was also given the task of involving experts from private health facilities in their endeavors.
